IDPA Nationals
Allentown, PA 09/27/2007
This was another whirlwind trip, flying into Philly at 1:00am, catching a taxi to Allentown, getting in bed at 4:00am, only to wake up to eat breakfast and head to the range at 5:30am. I actually shot fairly good, but not good enough. I shot in the ESP division with a CZ 75B SA 9mm with our new Custom Shop aluminum grips and magwell. This was another match I was just not practiced up for, and it showed. I ended up as 1st ESP Master, which also means 1st ESP Loser. The win went to Donnie Burton, who absolutely earned it by crushing the rest of the field. There were a LOT of upsets in the different divisions with a lot of first time Division Champs. My good friends Dave Olhasso and Bob Vogel won CDP and SSP, respectively, both first time National winners. The match itself was really good. It was hosted by a USPSA club, which really shows what can happen when the whining stops and the different games help each other out. The stages were very inventive, and I knew they would be since Ted Murphy was running the show. The highlights to me were winning the standards by 3 seconds, and shooting the darkhouse without a flashlight (and getting a good time and good points!).
